Losing, gaining, losing and gaining again.

I had a gastric bypass 13 years ago and had done well until 4 years ago. The pandemic was the beginning of struggling again. I’ve struggled with my weight since elementary school. I’m 66 now and have gained 60 lbs in the past 4 years. After my bypass I lost 234 lbs in 11 months. Why do some of us struggle our entire lives to maintain a healthy weight, but our friends appear that their weight is never an issue. It’s frustrating but I am very glad I did my gastric bypass. Me at 58

  1. Hi . Welcome to the community! You look terrific despite the weight gain. The pandemic was really hard on people who with struggle with weight. I can see how that stress and isolation might lead to a change in habits that can be hard to recover from. It really does feel unfair that some people never seem to gain weight, but I have found many of those people develop other serious problems down the road, especially if their low weights have distracted them from getting regular physicals or the recommended preventative care/screening. I hope you eventually lose the extra weight or at least maintain your current weight. Maintaining is a victory as well. Please know we are here for you whenever you need some extra support or a place to vent among people who get it. Warm wishes. - Lori (Team Member)
