Any pros and cons of methods to hasten the digestion of food?

Hi. There have been a multitude times where eating certain foods has given me a feeling of speeding up the digestion process of what I previously ate. I just got wondering about the process of speeding up digestion. Is it productive or not?
Hi . That's a good question, but not one that we are equipped to answer with any level of medical expertise. However, I imagine one negative effect of speeding digestion would be the immediate return of hunger. That's the problem with highly processed carbohydrates. They digest very quickly, but our bodies are not prepared for that. The stomach produces enough a certain level of hormones based on the amount of time it SHOULD take to digest food, not the actual time. When the food has moved onto the intestines, but the digestive hormones remain in the stomach, we're suddenly hungry again. Protein takes a long time to digest. That's one reason people with diabetes and those trying to lose weight are encouraged to eat more protein. I hope that helps. Best wishes. - Lori (Team Member)
