Hi . Welcome to the community. How wonderful that she has you to lean on. The cost of glps 1 medications is definitely out of reach for many people. Insurance companies have cracked down this year as well, making them even harder to get. Does she have any comorbidities that might help her get coverage, like sleep apnea, type 2 diabetes or high blood pressure?
Has she ever considered seeing a therapist for help with weight loss? Sometimes, therapy can help people put the small victories into perspective. For instance, someone who is trying to lose 100 pounds might get discouraged to lose only 5 pounds over a few months, but 5 pounds is a victory. Maintaining is a victory. Feeling good about those accomplishments can help her feel empowered to keep going.
Weight loss medications are great in so many many, but they've also made us less patience with long-term weight loss. It takes a long time to gain enough weight to be medically declared obese and it often starts in childhood when we have so much less control. It can take a long time to reverse it as well.
Has she tried many different approaches to weight loss?
