A third way choice between counting calories and stuffing off instances eating a larger meal every now and then

Hi. Years ago I a nutritionist told me that limiting my calorie consumption to 1800 a day would be needed to reduce my weight.

This led me to limiting my breakfast and lunch to 400-500 while placing the amount of calories for dinner to 700-800 since having more at dinner helps, with making it through the night.

Sadly im starting to have regrets over this method regarding counting calories and im starting to think that I need an alternative to excessively counting calories and struggling off cases where I eat natural than usual(most common at dinner time) since the latter becomes a slippery slope.

  1. Hi . Counting calories doesn't work for everyone. I know it doesn't work for me. I tend to get to hyperfocused and then, if I go over the allotted calories once, I feel defeated and give up entirely. I do better when I simply limit carbs to one measured-out serving per meal, and then eat all the vegetables and protein I want.
Ultimately, weight loss is about burning more calories than you take in. That sounds simple, but it's not. We don't all burn calories at the same rate. Different type of foods impact our appetites, making it easier or harder to control cravings. Psychology also plays a huge role in our eating habits and those habits can be hard to way.
It can take a lot of trial and error to figure out which methods are most effective for you, specifically. You now know this method isn't working for you, so maybe it's time to change it up. Stick with the things that are working and come up with new strategies for the things that aren't working.
I hope that helps and that other chime in with their own experiences.
    Best wishes.
