What are your lingering or burning questions about obesity?

  1. WHY isn't there a medication to help burn fat ? are the Pharmacy companies worried they won't make enough money if we are slim ?

    1. Hi . I wish they could develop something like that. I am no medical expert but, from what I understand, they haven't figured out how to boost metabolism without also boosting the heart rate, which could prove to be a fatal side effect for some people. Back in the 1980s, several weight loss drugs were pulled from shelves for that reason. Fingers crossed that something effective without scary side effects is in the pipeline! Wishing you the best. - Lori (Team Member)

  2. Is there anyone taking a GLP-1 or have tried it? Please tell me your experience... good and unpleasant. Thank you in advance

    1. Good question, . I have a family member who is taking Zepbound right now. He had minor digestive issues for the first week and again when his doctor increased the dose, but no issues otherwise. He's lost about 20 pounds in about four months and it seems to have stopped the food noise for him. He no longer wants to each so much, especially at night.
Not everyone has it so easy, of course. I also moderate in our type 2 diabetes community, where some people have had to stop GLP-1s due to side effects. The good news is that, if you are taking it for weight loss, you can simply stop if you are too uncomfortable. That's not always possible for people with diabetes since they are also taking it to manage their blood sugar levels.
