I got my first "you look so different" compliment today

I'm currently on week two of my weight loss journey, which began approximately two weeks ago with the help of a medical team that prescribed a combination of a low-calorie diet and GLP-1 medication. My starting weight was 250 pounds, and I am a 39-year-old man from Buffalo. Today, I received my first "you look so different" comment, and it came from someone who has lost over 200 pounds themselves!
I know it's still early in my journey, but hearing this from someone who truly understands the struggle and transformation process meant the world to me. There's something incredibly validating about receiving encouragement from someone who has walked this path and achieved such remarkable success.
For context, my first week was mostly about adjusting to the new meal routines and understanding how my body responds to the medication and diet. Now in my second week, I am preparing to start tracking my food intake more systematically, using a diet app to monitor calorie and macronutrient consumption, which has involved a lot of research and planning. Even though I'm just getting started, it's amazing how these small acknowledgments can fuel your motivation and remind you that the changes you're making are already becoming visible to others.
I'm not sharing this to brag, I just wanted to express to this community how much that simple comment meant to me today. Thank you all for your continued support and encouragement as I navigate this journey. Your collective wisdom and shared experiences make such a difference!

  1. How awesome, ! It seems the people who are most successful with GLP-1 medications are those who, like you, use it as a tool to help them reduce calorie intake and make permanent changes. I am excited for you and eager to here about the rest of your journey, so please keep us posted. Warm wishes! - Lori (Team Member)

    1. "I'm so happy for you! What an amazing feeling. Congratulations on getting started and taking those small steps! You're doing it!!
And yes, it is still early! But as long as you are seeing progress, keep going!
I don't know if this is helpful at all but here's what worked for me: I wanted to lose weight to feel healthier overall. What I found helpful was increasing my water intake and making sure to eat enough protein. This led me to eat less junk food and feel fuller from real foods that filled me up but were low calorie (like veggies). It was a great way to start!
I also made sure to move my body as much as possible - this helped me keep the momentum going and focus on health instead of just weight loss. Light exercise like walking kept me motivated and gave me goals to work towards so that I could see some results.
I hope this is helpful! Congratulations again 🎉"
