Weight NOT MOVING!

I've never been a very small person - 150 as a teenager..now I'm at 260 and it doesn't go higher or lower..I want to lose 60lbs and nothing I do seems to work..I thought about a group exercising or walking, but I don't socialize much..help!

  1. Absolutely. For years I felt like I was doing "all the right things" & the scale either barely moved or didn't move at all. Looking back, there wasn't one single reason. It was more like a perfect storm.

I was dealing with diabetes, hormonal issues, chronic stress, poor sleep, chronic pain, fatigue, mental health struggles, inflammation & medications that can affect weight. When you stack enough things together, weight loss becomes a lot more complicated than "eat less & move more."

Last year my doctor started me on a GLP-1 medication. I started on Ozempic & later switched to Mounjaro. For me, that was the first thing that really helped address the metabolic side of things. It quieted the constant food noise, improved my blood sugar & finally allowed my body to respond in a way it hadn't for years. 🙌🏼

That said, it still hasn't been a straight line. Hormones, stress, sleep, illness, constipation, fluid retention & life in general can all make the scale do weird things. I've learned not to panic over a stall because sometimes my body seems to be recalibrating before it starts moving again.

My biggest takeaway is that weight struggles aren't always a willpower problem. Sometimes there are underlying health issues that need to be addressed before the scale starts cooperating. 💯

  2. Look at yourself within. Ask yourself why don't you socialize much. I push myself to socialize at least 5 times during the month. If I don't move I lose friends and family memories. I try to look ahead have a plan where I am going during each month. I burn more calories socializing than I do exercising. Mostly likely I would be sitting at home eating or watching TV. This gets me out and about and I don't wake up in the middle of the night.

  3. I can relate to your problem. I too, have lost weight, gained it back I can't count how many times. I will be 80 in a few months and I definitely agree age is a huge factor. I should own stock in Weight Watchers. I still try my best and have started a walking program with my DOG!! Best of luck.

    1. Chloe is a shih poo, a mixture of a shitzu and a poodle. She loves people and being the center of attention. Of course we spoil her rotten!Chloe is 10 years old now. She was a bit younger here

    2. She's adorable! Thanks for sharing. You've brightened my day! - Lori (Team Member)

  4. Well, honestly Ive had weight-loss surgery (RNY) in 2014. My weight has been the direct result of the main problem. The surgery will only help to fix the outer (if compliance is followed to a T) but does nothing for the mental. Ive been as low as <150 and as high as almost 400. There's no quick solution. I can get it off but to keep it off is an entire different ball game.
Ive had regain, lose, regain, lose. My poor body doesn't know whether to hold on for dear life or release. Age is also a factor with EVERYTHING! Im currently on a GLP1 and scheduled for endoscopic revision (TORe), depending upon my ulcer healing. I weigh and measure food based on the food plan tailored to me from my nutritionist. Everything is online, at my fingertips. Id recommend researching, talking to PCP, referral to weight loss clinic (if thats something you would be willing to pursue). There's the surgery side and the medical weight loss side. Good luck in whatever decision you choose and with your journey. Its a lifelong issue for me, I just have to work it instead of letting it take control again.

    1. you and I have been on the same path with the same wild variations in weight! I don't know the answer or any tricks. Partly it's about your personal relationship with food but is becoming more and more clear that it's also medical in nature and has to do with genetics. I can eat the same as someone else, they lose five pounds, I gain two pounds. I guess the biggest and hardest thing to do is never give up, keep trying to eat health for YOU because YOU need to feel good, and whatever that is it's personal to YOU.
