Hi . I can see why you are anxious about the summer. Heat and humidity can make anyone lethargic. Throw in chronic fatigue and extra weight, and it can feel much more difficult to enjoy the season. Has your doctor ever investigated the source of your fatigue? So many things can make fatigue worse -- nutritional deficiencies, thyroid disorders, autoimmune diseases. Often, more than one health condition contributes.
If you search online for "beach cane for sand," you will come up with several options for cane bottoms that are designed to keep your cane from sinking into the sand. I found some on Amazon for around $20. That might be a good option for your family vacation. Will you also have access to a beach umbrella? Shade can make a huge difference in your ability to tolerate the heat. Hydration will be critical, too. I often carry little packets of Propel powder in my purse that I can mix with bottled water on especially hot days.
I hope you are able to get in the water a bit to cool down as well. Don't feel guilty if you have to take a nap in the middle of the afternoon while the others wander off. Yes, you will miss that activity, but you will be refreshed and ready to enjoy the next thing on the agenda.
