How long have you been contending with obesity?

For many, contending with obesity is a life-long battle. How long have you been living with it and what helps you cope best?

  1. Since I was 18, so 37 years or so. I'd have periods where it would go down, but was still obese. I was diagnosed with endometrial cancer this past May. It was found really early and a total hysterectomy got it all with no chemo or radiation. I decided once I was healed and cleared it was time to tackle my obesity once and for all. I'm 55 now and want to age in a more healthy way

    1. Thank goodness they caught your cancer so early and that surgery was so successful, . How scary. I hope you are able to lose the weight even if it takes a while. We're here for you whenever you need support or a safe place to vent. Best wishes. - Lori (Team Member)

  2. For some, it's been a struggle since childhood; for others, it might have started later in life. I know people who have been battling obesity for decades, and the journey can be so different for everyone.

Base on my own experience what helped me coped is finding strength in community support, like joining a fitness group or online forums like this where we can share our progress and challenges.

I've also done a small daily habits that add up over time, like meal prepping, taking walks, or practicing mindful eating.

I'm currently doing Intermittent fasting and have lost 17 lbs. in the last 6 weeks. This is the only one that worked for me.

Ultimately, it seems like it’s all about finding a balance that fits into your lifestyle and keeps you motivated. It’s a long road for many, but finding what makes you feel good and focusing on progress rather than perfection is key. What has worked best for you?

    Hope this helps!

    1. Hi . Welcome to the community and congratulations on your weight loss! I hope you are able to maintain the program until you reach your goal. It does seem that small changes over time are more sustainable. Weight loss might be slower, but those pounds are more likely to stay off. Thanks for joining the conversation. - Lori (Team Member)

  3. I can truly empathize with much of what you have expressed. It is evident that you are not alone in your experiences. Food has served as a significant support for me as well. I find your use of sewing as a therapeutic outlet to be quite fascinating, and I have come to appreciate the skill involved in executing sewing projects with precision.

    1. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Food has always been a support for me as well. That's so kind what you said about sewing and recognizing their passion for it. I totally agree with you that hobbies can be such amazing therapeutic outlets. Do you have any hobbies that you really enjoy? I'd love to hear about them! 💙Kayleigh, Team Member

  4. There is no need to worry about it.
You can include a combination of hiit exercises and cardio with a fast fatloss diet like cucumber, avocadoes ,low fat dairy to your daily routine.
Always start your day with honey water

    1. Thank you for the thoughtful suggestions! It’s great to hear about different approaches that can help manage weight. I appreciate your thoughts on incorporating HIIT, cardio, and a healthy diet, although, for some, that might be a lot to start out with right away. Starting the day with honey water sure sounds like a refreshing way to begin! If I may ask, is this something that you've incorporated into your routine? - Kayleigh, Team Member
